Product Information:

Ketotifen fumarate syrup is an antihistamine and anti‑allergic medicine used to prevent allergy symptoms and help in the prophylactic treatment of asthma as well as allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis. It works by blocking histamine and stabilizing mast cells to reduce allergic reactions.

How to Take It

  • Take the syrup orally, usually with or after food.

  • Shake the bottle well before measuring out the dose using the supplied measuring spoon or cup.

  • Do not use it to treat sudden asthma attacks — it’s for long‑term prevention, not rescue relief.

Dosage:

Adults & Older Children (≥3 years):

  • 1 mg (5 ml) twice daily (morning and evening) with food.

  • May be increased in some cases if prescribed by a doctor (e.g., up to 2 mg twice daily).

Younger Children (6 months–3 years)

  • Often 0.25 ml per kg body weight twice daily (physician‑directed).

Precautions:

  • Not a rescue medicine: It does not treat acute asthma attacks — keep your quick‑relief medication ready.

  • Allergies: Avoid if you’re allergic to ketotifen or ingredients in the syrup.

  • Sedation risk: May cause drowsiness or sedation — avoid driving or operating heavy machinery if affected.

  • Alcohol & sedatives: Can increase drowsiness when taken with alcohol or other sedatives.

  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding: Use only if doctor recommends; safety is not fully established.

  • Other medications: May interact with other antihistamines or sedatives — always tell your doctor about all medicines you take

Side Effects:

  • Drowsiness or sedation

  • Dry mouth

  • Headache or dizziness

  • Gastrointestinal discomfort (mild nausea)
