Makatussin Comp 80 ml is a prescription cough syrup formulated to relieve persistent, dry, and irritating coughs. It contains codeine phosphate, an effective opioid antitussive, combined with supportive ingredients that help soothe the throat and suppress the cough reflex.
How Makatussin Lean Works
Makatussin Comp acts directly on the cough center in the brain, reducing the urge to cough. This makes it especially effective for dry, non-productive coughs that interfere with sleep and daily comfort.
Indications
- Relief of dry and irritating cough

Dosage & Administration
Adults and adolescents over 12 years:
15–20 drops, 3–4 times daily. A maximum of 30 drops may be taken at one time.
The dosing interval should be at least 4 hours. Treatment without medical consultation should not exceed 5–7 days.
The drops can be taken undiluted or mixed with a small amount of water or tea, regardless of meals.
Makatussin Lean Composition
Active ingredient:
Codeine phosphate hemihydrate – 13.6 mg per 1 g (20 drops)
Excipients:
Glycerol, propylene glycol (E1520), sorbitol solution 70% (E420), sodium chloride, liquorice root extract, saccharin sodium (E954).
Contraindications
- Respiratory insufficiency or acute asthma
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Children under 12 years
- Opioid dependence
- Concurrent MAO inhibitor therapy
Possible Side Effects
