Pluradec (Chlorpheniramine Maleate) Syrup

Product Information:

Pluradec syrup is a combination cough‑cold medicine containing:

• Guaifenesin – an expectorant that thins and loosens mucus.

• Phenylpropanolamine HCl – a nasal decongestant that shrinks swollen nasal passages.

• Chlorphenamine Maleate – an antihistamine that relieves runny nose, sneezing, and itchy/watery eyes.

Dosing:

• Adults & children ≥12 years: 5–10 ml every 6 hours as needed.

• Children 6–12 years: 2.5–5 ml every 6 hours as needed.

• Children under 6 years: Dose and use should be determined by a healthcare provider.

How To Take:

• Use the measuring cup or spoon provided.

• Take orally, with or without food.

• Do not exceed the recommended dose or more than 4 doses in a 24‑hour period unless directed by a doctor.

Warnings:

Before using this medicine:

• Allergies: Do not take if you’re allergic to guaifenesin, phenylpropanolamine, chlorphenamine, or any other ingredients.

• Heart/Blood Pressure: Phenylpropanolamine can increase blood pressure; use cautious if you have hypertension, heart disease, or cardiovascular risk.

• Stroke Risk: Phenylpropanolamine – especially in women – is associated with a small but increased risk of hemorrhagic stroke, so many health authorities advise avoiding it when possible. 

• Glaucoma, asthma, prostate issues: Antihistamine (chlorphenamine) may worsen glaucoma or urinary retention and cause sedation. 

• Drugs: Avoid if you’re taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or other sympathomimetic/decongestants.

• Alcohol & sedatives: May increase drowsiness.

• Not for long‑term use – use only for a few days unless directed.

• Pregnancy & breastfeeding: Consult a doctor first — safety isn’t fully established.

Side Effects:

‑ Dizziness or headache.
‑ Dry mouth or throat irritation.
‑ Upset stomach or nausea.
