Sitizine (Cetirizine Hydrochloride) Syrup

Product Information:

Sitizine Syrup contains cetirizine hydrochloride (typically 5 mg per 5 mL) and belongs to a class of medicines called second-generation antihistamines. It is used to relieve symptoms of allergic conditions by blocking histamine, a chemical released during allergic reactions. Sitizine helps treat allergic rhinitis (hay fever), urticaria (hives), itching, runny nose, sneezing, and watery eyes. It is usually well-tolerated with fewer sedative effects compared to older antihistamines.

How to Take:

Administration:

• Take the syrup by mouth, usually once daily. Shake well before use.

• Use a proper measuring spoon/cup — don’t use household teaspoons.

Dosage:

• Adults & children ≥ 6 years: Usually 10 mg once daily (equivalent to 2 teaspoons / 10 mL daily) or 5 mg twice daily in some cases.

• Children 2–6 years: Often 5 mg once daily (1 teaspoon / 5 mL) or 2.5 mg twice daily (½ teaspoon). 

• Under 2 years: Not normally recommended unless a doctor advises; safety in this age group is limited. 

Warnings:

• Allergy: Do not take if allergic to cetirizine, hydroxyzine, or any ingredient. 

• Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Use only if clearly needed and advised by a doctor; cetirizine passes into breast milk.

• Driving & Machinery: May cause drowsiness or dizziness — avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you. 

• Alcohol & CNS Depressants: Avoid alcohol and other sedating drugs, as they may increase drowsiness.

• Kidney Issues: Dose adjustments may be needed for people with renal impairment. 

• Other Conditions: Tell your doctor if you have bladder problems, epilepsy, liver problems, or severe kidney disease
